GAST Mary Dugan Gast beloved wife mother grandmother and great grandmother and friend passed away on December 1. She was born to Charles B Dugan and Mary Agnes Callahan on March 17 1920 in Beacon New York. She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick C her parents and her sister and brother in law Betty and Philip Fritz. She is survived by her children Ginny (Ray) Lovett Peter (Pat) Gast Fritz (Mary) Gast Barb (Terry) Cahill Susie (David) Rodriguez and Patti (Bill Dowell) Gast. Beloved as G-ma she is also survived by her 13 grandchildren Joe (Stacy Blasberg) Lovett Molly (Erik) Reitter Sarah Lovett Kristen (Steve) Alix Peter (Becky) Gast Eric Amy Jeff and Jen Gast Terry (Marinell) Cahill Megan Cahill Sean (Ally) Cahill and Michael Cahill. Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren Brogan and Reid Lovett Quinn and Wes Reitter Christopher and Brenden Alix Reagan Gast Wyatt Cahill and Scarlet and Liam and baby girl Cahill due in March. She was a member of the Altar Society of Saint Thomas the Apostle parish Mary Catherine Guild Saint John’s Guild and a long time member of Cascade Hills Country Club. She was an avid bridge player and crossword puzzle aficionado 18 hole golfer and claimed a hole in one at Disneyworld representing the state of Michigan in the Walter Hagen Cancer Tournament and she was also the number one Notre Dame fan win or lose. The family will receive friends at the O’Brien-Eggebeen- Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE on December 4 from 4 to 7 pm with a rosary at 7. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Saint Paul the Apostle Church 2750 Burton SE on December 5 at 10 am Msgr. Ernest P. Schneider presiding. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mary’s name to Hospice of Michigan 989 Spaulding SE Ada Michigan 49301 St. Paul the Apostle/Daniel J. Donnelly Education Foundation 2750 Burton SE Grand Rapids MI 49546-4998 or Catholic Central & West Catholic Development Office Cathedral Square Center 360 Division Avenue S., Grand Rapids MI 49503-4501. The family would like to especially thank the staff at the Green House and Hospice of Michigan for their wonderful care while she was there.
