LOFTIS – Mary Irene Loftis born September 22 1921 passed away September 15 2009 in her home with her husband children and grandchildren present. Mary the daughter of Robert and Irene Gibson will be missed dearly by her husband of 65 years Bob; 7 children Dianne (Barry), Debbie (Tom), Chris (Doug), Connie Steve (Carole), Carmel (Reb) and John (Sally); brother Bob Gibson; 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Irene; sisters Susan and Jane; brother Richard. Mary touched many lives through her years of volunteer service and giving. She was grateful everyday for her 38 years of sobriety with AA and her involvement from the beginning with Our Hope Association as well as an outreach program for women with the Kent County correction facility. Our mother grandmother relative and friend will forever live in the hearts of those who shared her passion energy and spiritual guidance for life. Those who wish to pay their last respects to Mary may visit the family at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home 3980 Cascade Rd. SE September 17 from 5-7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered September 18 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. SE Rev. James A. Chelich presiding.
