Mary “Joanne” Schelling, age 85 of Grand Rapids, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce. She is survived by her children, Julie (Arlie) Hammons, Diane Schelling-McAllister, Suzanne (Dennis) Watkins, Stephen Schelling, and Anne Schelling; sister, Mary Kay Kroth; grandchildren, B.J. (Carly) McAllister, Jodi McAllister, Amanda Miller, Ryan McKinney, Stacey (Matt) Byrne, Stephanie (A.J.) Eversley, Adam and Alicia (Jaylen) Watkins; great grandchildren, Kieran, Kaden, Kenyon, Kylee and Koen Byrne, Cade and Scarlett Eversley. After graduating from Marywood Academy Joanne worked in the travel industry for over 50 years, was involved in several area Catholic guilds, and had a passion for playing bridge and golf. Funeral Service will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert of Newminster, 6477 Ada Drive. Rev. Leonard Sudlik presiding. Interment Cascade Cemetery. Vigil Service Friday 6:00 p.m. Visitation Friday 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Road, Grand Rapids.
