Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Snyder, age 72 of Grand Rapids, died Sunday, September 3, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Madeline and Donald Kauffman, and her sister, Carol Balentine. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, David; children, Julie (Chris) Lizak, Lisa (Brent) Sawyer, Brad (Bridgette) Snyder, Blake (Lauren) Snyder; grandchildren, Matthew, Mary Callaghan, Michael, Colin, Madeline, Elizabeth Mary, Ethan and Willamina; brothers, Richard (Rita) Kauffman, Robert (Cathy) Kauffman, Keith (Marcy)Kauffman; sister, Susan (Knute) O’Connor. We are incredibly sad to say goodbye to this amazing, joyful woman. She was a loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was incredibly strong in her Catholic faith and love for Jesus. This was demonstrated on a daily basis as she truly was the hands and feet of Jesus for so many people. If anyone was in need or struggling she was the first in line with prayers, meals, offering her home, rides and love. Our family adored her and no one had the magic touch like “Nama.” The grandkids were drawn to her from day one and she had such a special and unique bond with each one. She was passionate about life whether it was religion, politics or relationships. This amazing woman has given us all the perfect example of how to live life to the fullest. She will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1935 Plymouth St. SE with a Vigil Service at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 6 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Rev. Troy Nevins, presiding. Interrment Resurrection Cemetery.
