YOUR LIFE of Grand Rapids

Mary Lou (Strobel) Scott, aged 93, went to be with God and so many of her beloved friends and family on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.  Lou lived life to the fullest, with abundant love for her family, her friends, and a great game of scrabble. She welcomed everyone at her table and loved to entertain. She had amazing strength and battled valiantly to the end. Mary Lou was born on December 6, 1927, in Saginaw Michigan, the daughter of Benjamin Strobel and Kathryn (Blaine) Strobel Juergenmeyer.  She attended Arthur Hill High School then went on to Central Michigan University, where she met the most handsome man on campus and the love of her life, Harrison Lee (Scotty) Scott. The two were married in 1948 and moved to Bend, Oregon, where they lived for 2 years, before moving back and settling near the Thornapple River in S.E. Grand Rapids. They joined Cascade Christian Church and raised their four kids in a community they truly loved. Mary Lou began working part-time for Western Michigan Research Company in 1975 and stayed with the company through ownership change to Advantage Research, where she worked as the Quality Control Manager until early 2019. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband Scotty, her parents, and her sister Elaine Hinds (Don). She is survived by her loving children Susan (Rick) Gould, Nancy (Mike) Voltz, Lee (Laurie) Scott, and Amy (Shana) Scott, and Lori (Jeamie) Price, her adoring grandchildren Tracye Fase, Miles Fase, Kathryn (Brian) Gilbert, Lisa (Brian) Dean, Scott (Alicia) Voltz, Allison (Brian) Murphy, Hayley (Ryan) VanHeck, Maddie Scott, Lexie Scott, Emma (Desmond) Sullivan, and Great Grandchildren Trent, Tyler, and Tiffany Fase, Aiden and Emily Gilbert, Harrison and Elizabeth Dean, Max and Toby Voltz, and Cassie and Duncan Murphy. Funeral Services will be private, but a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Lou would be honored to have donations made in her name to Cascade Christian Church, Trillium Woods/Faith Hospice, and YOUR LIFE of Grand Rapids. For those who knew her and loved her, she loved you all back just as much and felt so blessed in her life.
