Maxine Rose, age 96 of Lowell, MI, formerly of Pleasant Lake, MI, passed away Saturday evening, May 13, 2017 at The Laurels of Kent Assisted Living in Lowell. Maxine was born in Jackson, MI on April 3, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Augustus Will. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene Rose; son Jerry Rose; daughter-in-law Yvonne “Bonnie” Rose; great-grandson Derek Rose; brothers Ronald, Gordon, Richard, John; and sisters Harrietta, Margaret, Dorothy, Mary Louise, and Beverly Jean. Maxine is loved and survived by her sisters Joanne Bruce, Shirley Echelbarger, Betty (Gary) Bailey; sister-in-laws, Joanne Will, Donna Will; grandchildren Mary (Alan) Stemen, Sue (Tim) Rankin, Duane (April) Rose, great-grandchildren Rachel Stemen, Alec & Kaitlyn Rankin; and several nieces and nephews. Maxine spent the bulk of her career known as the “Rose” of the Rose Room, the restaurant in LH Fields (now Macy’s) downtown Jackson store.   Her smiling face for many years made her a favorite of the regulars who came to the restaurant. She and her husband Eugene enjoyed traveling in their trailer throughout the United States, culminating with their ultimate trip to Hawaii with their long time, great friends “Hube and Mert”.  Maxine’s sweet disposition and easy going nature has made her loved by many, and she will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and staff/residents of The Laurels of Kent. The family would like to thank all the staff at Laurels of Kent for the great care and love they have given to Maxine over the past six years; and Southern Hospice for the assistance in the past three weeks. Upon Maxine’s wishes, cremation has taken place; and a Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Woodland Cemetery, Jackson, MI at a later date.
