FACTS

Born: December 4, 1932
Death: October 27, 2015

Nellie Jean Rainey, age 82 of Cascade formerly of Alto, entered eternal life on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. Her spirit is carried on by her daughters, Cheryl Adkison, Penny (Mark) Brighton; grandchildren, James (Stefanie) Adkison, Kelli (Troy) Rose, Briana (PJ) Abney, Jessica (Gary) McCarty; and nine great grandchildren. Jean lived a full and fun life, always surrounded by those she loved. Whether it was dancing the afternoon away or talking to everyone at the mall, Jean was a social butterfly. She always made an impression and was hard to forget. Jean loved shopping and the feel of a nice dress coat. She was always dressed to the nines. Jean took pride in her appearance and thanks Merle Norman cold cream and a shot of whisky to help her get her beauty sleep. Jean loved to cook until she discovered it was much easier and cleaner to eat out. She was always up for “grabbing a bite” and there wasn’t a leftover too small for her to save, usually wrapped in tin foil. Jean was giving but fair, loving but honest, sweet but stubborn. She will be sadly and sorely missed by anyone and everyone who knew her. Jean is reunited with her first great love and husband of 25 years, James Tudor, and her second great love and husband of 20 years Thomas Rainey. She is also preceded in death by her son, Timothy; brothers, Dick Jackman, Jack Decamp; and son-in-law, Robert Adkison. Memorial Service will be held Monday, Nov. 2 11:00 a.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. Gordon Barry officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding Ave. SE, Ada, MI 49301.
