Patricia Joann Arbour, age 81 of Grand Rapids entered into the loving arms of her savior on Thursday, April 18, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Pat was born January 3, 1938 in Springfield Illinois to Sylvia and Stewart Jones. On November 7, 1959, she married the love of her life, Ralph Arbour, who preceded her in death.
Pat was a loving and generous woman who enjoyed being with people. Her dedication to family and strong Christian faith were an inspiration to many. She was a board member of the Northview Seniors and an active member of the LAOH and the Gaelic League. She had been a volunteer at the Fox Theater, Van Singel Fine Arts Center, Metro Hospital, and New Creations Prison Ministries.
She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, James and Susan Jones. She is survived by her children, Michael (Jan) Arbour, Jeffrey (Kathy) Arbour, Colleen (Scott) Christie, and Dawn (Dr. Ken) Shockley; her grandchildren, Justin (Keegan), Griffin, and Shalynn Arbour, Madison (Michael) Rogers, Kendra (Joshua) Pische, Brett, Brooke, Michaela, and Dillon Christie, Ryan, Regan, and Benjamin Shockley; and great-grandchildren, Isla, Ronan, and Briar Arbour; her brothers, Martin (Susan) Neighbors, Gary (Kelly) Neighbors, and Joseph (Lori) Neighbors; dear friends Iris Wadkins and Corinne Riordan; and faithful canine companion, Molly Malone.
Visitation will be Monday, April 22 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm (beginning with a rosary at 6:00 pm) at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3890 Cascade Rd, SE, Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 23 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10 am at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church 6477 Ada Dr. SE, Rev. Leonard Sudlik, presiding. Internment Wednesday, April 24 at 2:00 pm at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patricia’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1471 E. 12 Mile Rd.
