Boruta in 1994.  Celebrating her life and sharing many memorable moments are her children, Herm and Jeanne, Katie and Stan Spetoskey, Mike and Mary, Matt and Cinda Gibson, Kris VanderVeen of MO, Jane and Chris Steffes of Northville, MI, Ellen and Danny Williams of South Bend, IN, Julie and Mike Mervau; 25 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Loretta Karskas and Sue Fuller of OH, nieces and nephews, Jean graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit and worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, in GR, retiring in 1959 to raise her family.  She enjoyed being a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Registered Nurses Guild and volunteering at SMH.  In addition to keeping busy, she enjoyed playing golf, swimming, reading, crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, and traveling.  Mom enjoyed time on Lake Michigan beaches and camping with her children along its shoreline.  Their discovery of Pentwater led to creating fond memories taking groups of grandchildren camping there every summer (“as soon as they turned five”). There were sunny days on the beach, fishing at the pier, the “L”, or the RR bridge, shopping, nightly campfires and endless games of Uno and Yahtzee.  She continued on her life’s journey after a life changing health problem three years prior to the passing of her husband.  She managed to maintain her independence as long as possible.  She was a feisty, loyal, hard working Mom.  Her life was guided by her faith in God and the love of her family.  The family would like to thank everyone who assisted in her care including the staff at Emerald Meadows Assisted Nursing Facility and Great Lakes Palliative and Hospice Care providers.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 7th, 9:30 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1951 Plymouth Ave. SE, Grand Rapids 49506, Rev.
