DEAVER Rhoda Margare Deaver (Chambers), age 88 of East Grand Rapids passed away December 4 2007 after a long and noble fight with Alzheimers disease. Born in Canada raised in Scotland and betrothed in America she was a devoted wife a mother to all and a force of nature. She attended Alma College (Canada), played piano and was a beautiful writer. Rhoda worked part-time at Jacobsons for 18 years did volunteer work at area hospitals and was an empathetic champion of the less fortunate. She loved her husband her children and their children bagpipes gardening music (especially Robert Goulet), dancing art jewelry and the heather in bloom. She is survived by her daughter Diana (Deaver) Bates and her husband Andy her son Brian Deaver and his wife Sally daughter Lorna (Deaver) Schultz and her husband Gary son David Deaver sister Betty (Chambers) Noble nine grandchildren Allyson Whitney Lindsay Brynna Andrew Jessica Eric Carly and Amanda four great-grandchildren nephew Craig Noble and niece Christine Noble-Lehman. She lost her husband of 63 years (Bill Deaver) this past June and now joins him for another dance. Among her many special gifts Rhoda will be remembered for her extraordinary tenacity her deep and indispensable wisdom her courage and limitless capacity for love. The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday December 8th from 12 – 2 pm followed by a private memorial service at the OBrien-Gerst Funeral Home (3980 Cascade Rd). Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
