Richard Bascom Stevens, age 87 of Portland, was called to heaven on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Skivers) Stevens and son-in-law, Richard McPeek. Richard is survived by 10 children, Helen (Doug) Wiley, Michael Stevens, Patricia Ann Stevens, Bonnie (Gerald) Hunt, Sharlynne (Ray) Rowden, Suzanna Cota, Deborah McPeek, Sandra (Steve) Scholl, Richard (Tammy) Stevens, John (Ana) Stevens; 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was born in White Cloud, MI the youngest of 11 siblings. Richard spent his childhood in White Cloud then his family moved to Grand Rapids. He proudly served our country with the Army in W.W.II. Richard and Dorothy met in Grand Rapids and married in 1953 and started their family. Both were loving and caring parents. Funeral service will be held Friday 1:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Road S.E., Grand Rapids with visitation one hour prior.
