Richard “Dick” Gowans Morrison, 82

Dick passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 4, 2022, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born on March 3, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN to Albert and Mary Morrison. Dick attended Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State University. He married Maureen “Judy” Sheehan Morrison in 1960 and together they raised three children. He worked his whole life in the family business where he eventually became president and CEO of Morrison Industrial Equipment. Dick will be remembered by employees and clients alike for his kindness, leadership, and love of social interaction.

An avid gardener and painter, Dick saw the beauty in life all around him and shared that beauty with others. In later years, he spent time in Michigan, Ft. Myers, FL, and on a variety of adventures around the world connecting with friends new and old. He will be remembered for his generous and humorous spirit and his love for his family. He will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert G. Morrison, his mother, Mary F. Morrison, his brothers, William J. and Jack W. Morrison, and his beloved daughter, Beth Ann Morrison.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy Morrison, his children, Michelle Morrison and David Morrison (RoxAnn), his two grandsons, Dylan and Jake Morrison, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at St Robert of Newminster, 6477 Ada Dr SE, Ada, MI 49301 Friday, February 11 with a visitation from 10:30 to 11 am and Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 am. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held immediately following Mass at the Watermark Country Club, 5500 Cascade Road SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations to be made to the John Ball Zoo, https://www.jbzoo.org/donate, or to Feeding America West Michigan, https://www.feedwm.org/donate.
