KNAPE – Richard S. (Dick) Knape 83. On August 2 2009 in the presence of God and his family Dick Knape went to his heavenly home. Dick was born on July 6 1926 in Grand Rapids Michigan. Following service in the U.S. Air Force he graduated from the University of Michigan and worked as an engineer for General Motors and Knape &Vogt Manufacturing. He enjoyed the game of golf took up skiing at 52 and photographed countless good times among family and friends. Dick served the GR community through the Boy Scouts of America St. Vincent de Paul Society and Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Mary Catherine (Berles) Knape and his children Stephen and Eileen Knape Thomas and Shelley Knape Richard S. Knape Jr., Anne (Knape) Daniels and Bob Daniels Mara (Knape) Hayes Peter and Antoinette Knape and Melissa (Knape) Bock and Hank Bock. Also he is survived by his wonderful grandchildren: Mary Emma Elizabeth and Stephen Knape; Joseph Sarah and Michael Knape; Jennifer McLaughlin; Scott Kristina and Natalie Hayes; Calvin and Sophia Knape; Henry and Anna Bock as well as many nieces and nephews. He is survived by siblings Roger and Ginny Knape; John and Joanne Knape; and Joan (Knape) and Phil Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Florence Knape and his brothers Donald and Gerald Knape. Visitation will take place at OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home 3980 Cascade Rd SE on August 4 2009 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 5 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Father Troy and Father Leonard Sudlik as con-celebrants. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Killgoar Foundation and/or St. Lazares Retreat House. What a lot of fun we had .
