Rita (Appelgreen) Modderman died peacefully under the care of Faith Hospice of Trillium Woods, at the age of 93. Rita is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Louis Modderman of Grand Rapids; their son, Steven (Tabitha) of West Memphis, Arkansas; grandchildren, Nena of West Memphis, Amanda Carew-Potts of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Vincent (Crystal) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Sarah Woolworth (David) of Grandville, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Serena Carew, Trent Carew, Reina Potts, Lillian, Wyatt, and Sydney Modderman, Lana and Alexander Woolworth. Rita is also survived by many nieces and nephews with whom she shared special relationships and loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Mamie (Martin) Appelgreen of Weidman, Michigan, and siblings, Martin, Gerald, Kathryn, Vada, Donald, and Walter. Rita was born on October 12, 1929, in Isabella County. She retired from the Kent County Health Department in 1991. Rita and Robert enjoyed many travel adventures and spending summers at Round Lake as well as winters in Florida and Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, April 21, 2023, at St. Robert’s Catholic Church, 6477 Ada Drive Ada, MI 49301, with visitation one hour prior.
