Bob peacefully started his eternal life Sunday while at home under the care of his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Teresa Lang, and his brother, Dave, as well as his loving wives, Rosemary Bennett Lang and Judith Prendergast Lang. He is survived by his siblings, Mary Esch, Richard (Rose) Lang, and Patricia (Ken) Kunst, children Mary Sue (Gary) Barnes, Joseph (Sheryl) Lang, Steve (Patty) Lang, Cindy (Richard) Coleman, Paul (Julie) Lang, Matthew Lang, Mary Ann (Gary) Nugent, Denise (Paul) Smit, James (Sue) Prendergast, Steven (Mary Jo) Prendergast, 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, with 2 more great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild expected. He graduated from G.R. Catholic Central High School, was a proud member of the 1943 state championship football team, and was a WWII Navy Seabee. He worked at Michigan Mutual Insurance for four decades, and was a lifelong resident of West Michigan. Robert was a generous and kind father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. Services will include a memorial gathering at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids, Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 4 to 8 pm, with a vigil service at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4351 Parnell Ave. N.E., Ada, with Reverend Father Mark Peacock presiding at 11 am on Friday, June 10, 2016. A private graveside burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spectrum Hospice, 100 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
