Robert James Loftus, age 86 of Grand Rapids, died peacefully Friday, July 29, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Faustina; grandson, Joshua Trumpie; and granddaughter, Hannah Yob. He is survived by his children, Thomas Loftus, Patrick Loftus, James (Denise) Loftus, Richard Loftus, Marilyn (Thomas) Brower, Sharon (Gregory) Karrip, Shirley (Charles Jr.) Yob, Maureen (Terry) Christenson, Rose (Bradley) Krestakos, Karen (Gregory) VanDeusen; brother, John (Mieko) Loftus; sister, Francine Milito; brothers-in-law, William Yob, Frank (Annette) Yob, Edward Yob; sisters-in-law, Rose (Mario) Caruso, Elsie Yob; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Bob worked for the Grand Rapids Herald and Grand Rapids Press for over 50 years before retiring. He was very devoted to his wife and family, was a lifelong Detroit Tiger fan and dedicated deer hunter. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1935 Plymouth Ave S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 6-8:00 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids.
