Robert W. Hockemeyer, born April 26, 1943, to Elmer and Evelyn in Midland Michigan, walked into the loving arms of Jesus on the morning of January 21, 2022. Bob grew up working on his family farm and had the heart of a farmer for all of his life. Being a naturally gifted athlete, his crowning moment came when he was selected for the all state football team while playing for the Midland High School Chemics. He was proud of his “two picks against Saginaw Arthur Hill.” As a young man, he moved to Grand Rapids where he began his career as a Tool and Die Maker at Rapid Die and Engineering. Bob was an avid hunter and shared his passion with his children and grandchildren. Hunting just won’t be the same without him. Bob married the love of his life Dee in August of 1988 and they settled into their log home in the woods in Belding. Bob  was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Evelyn; and his siblings, Leona, Larry, Carolyn, and Alan. He is survived by his wife, Dee; children, Troy (Linda), Demara (Jim), Lisa (Dean), Renee (Mark), Ann and David; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barb; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM  Sunday, January 23, 2022, Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331. Services will be held  11 AM Monday, January 24, 2022, at Plainfield Baptist Church, 1750 Woodworth St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525 with visitation one hour prior.

  1. Dee and family, please know your Rapid Die family could not appreciate Bob more or have more prayers for you all to get through this time. Mom (Eleanor Jones) sends you her best. He was a special man and all will feel his loss, while remembering so many wonderful times together. May God’s peace beyond our understanding fill your hearts. Shelly

  2. I am so very sorry, Dee for yours and your family’s loss. I am prayerfully remembering you and your family. May the peace of God be upon you, and His grace and loving arms hold you tight.
