On Friday July 6, 2018 Bob Ellis, passed away and went into the embrace of our Lord. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather.  Bob was born in Armada Mi, attended Michigan State College until he was drafted. He served in the Army during WWII and served with the 98th Chemical Service Co in New Guinea Luzon Philippines. Bob finished his studies at Wayne State University in Detroit upon his return. He worked for and retired from Ford Motor in 1986.  Bob especially enjoyed spending his time and talents with his family. Even though his active lifestyle inevitably slowed down, his gift for telling stories, recounting fond memories and sense of humor was with him to the end. Bob was a multi-sport athlete in high school, he was an all-star player and elected as captain of the basketball team and also played baseball. As an adult Bob was an accomplished bowler who won many bowling trophies. He enjoyed golf and was passionate about skiing.  Many memorable family ski trips were taken together over the years. Not only did he follow the Detroit Tigers closely he also had a passion for horse racing. He and his wife Doris spent many happy years working at the Detroit Race Course. In his retirement Bob split his time between his home in Boynton Beach Fla., and Lewiston Michigan with a short stay in Lexington Ky. The final years were spent between summers on Tee Lake and winters in Grand Rapids, Mi.  Bob was an outstanding craftsman with both wood and stained glass. He created many pieces of furniture and works of art for his friends and family. These pieces will be cherished always.  Bob is preceded in death by his daughters, Linda Hughes and Kathleen Bouwsma. Bob is survived by his wife Doris, son James (Julie) Ellis; son-in-law William (Veronica) Hughes; his grandchildren, Kimberly (Chad) Renner, Brian (Sibyl) Hughes, Kelly (Addie) Culler, Kara (Michael Cleary) Hughes, Robert Ellis, Ryan Ellis, Brett Ellis; his great grandchildren, Drew Renner, Dylan Renner, Delaney Renner, William Hughes, Keenan Hughes, Aiden Culler, Holden Culler, Vivienne Cleary, Henriette Cleary.  Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10 from 4-5 PM with the service at 5:00 PM at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE.  Private burial services will be Wednesday.
