On October 8, 2014 Sally passed away surrounded by family and friends. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she lived her early years in Niles with her parents, John & Elizabeth and her 2 sisters Marnie and Mary Ann. Sally was educated at Hathaway Brown School and Connecticut College. After completing her education, she moved to New York City, where she worked for the Shubert Theaters and developed a life-long love of musical theater. In 1954, she returned to Youngstown and married David Schley Schaff III (deceased). They settled in Sewickley, PA, where they raised their family and lived for 50 years. Sally was very involved with her church, the Union Aid Society, the Junior League, the Sewickley Garden Club and her children’s school. She was an avid reader, bridge player, and weekend platform tennis player. She spent her summers in Northport Point, Michigan surrounded by family and friends. After becoming empty nesters, she and David travelled throughout the world. Sally is survived by her son John, his wife Mary Elder, grandchildren Zack and his wife Christie Ouzts, Madeline and Bill, and by her daughter Isabel, her husband Xavier Cabanne and grandchildren Alex and Christophe. A Memorial Service will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at Cook Valley Estates, 1049 East Paris Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. The family will greet friends and relatives at an Open House Sunday 6:00 p.m. at the home of John Schaff, 240 Taos Ave., Ada, MI 49301. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Northport Point Recreation Program, 105 N. Northcott Dr., Northport MI 49670; The Sewickley Presbyterian Church, 414 Grant St., Sewickley PA 15143, www.sewickleypresby.org ; or the Union Aid Society, 601 Thorn St., Sewickley PA 15143, www.unionaidsociety.org.
