Shirley Ann Rasmussen, age 81 of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. Shirley was born on February 17, 1934 to Leona and Mathew VanBergen in Hart, Michigan. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Charles “Chuck” Rasmussen; devoted daughters Michelle (Blake) Woodard, Stacey (Scott) Greiner, Shari Hoatlin, Shauna (David) Bayer; eight wonderful grandchildren; ten adoring great grandchildren; sisters Helena Larson, Janet (James) Fouts; and Madelyn who passed away the previous day (Lyle) Converse. Shirley devoted herself to raising her family, enjoying the company of others, and any opportunity to be around children. She also enjoyed golfing, canoeing, dancing, time in the sun, playing cards, and a successful day at the casino. She loved life, her family and will be missed by all who knew her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 28 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 1935 Plymouth Ave. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. Troy A. Nevins presiding.
