Fox, OP, Sister Geraldine (born Jean Marie Fox in Flint, Michigan) died on February 14, 2017. She was 93 years old and a Dominican Sister for 74 years.

Sister Geraldine served in food service at Holy Angels, Traverse City; St. Mary Magdalen, Melvindale; Blessed Sacrament, Grand Rapids; Our Lady of Grace, Dearborn Heights; the Aquinas College convent; Sacred Heart, Muskegon Heights; and Marywood Academy where she also supervised the work in the laundry. Sister Geraldine also served the Sisters at Aquinata Hall both as a nurse’s aide and with their personal needs and later in hospitality and reception duty at Marywood and Dominican Center. She also volunteered for many years with Second Harvest Gleaners (Feeding America West Michigan). Sister Geraldine’s interests included listening to music. With her lyrical voice, she was a valued member of the choir at Marywood for many years. An avid reader, her favorite Biblical texts were from the Old Testament, specifically Isaiah, Job and Ecclesiastes where she found her favorite passage, “There is a time for everything.”

Sr. Geraldine is survived by nieces and nephews, many friends and members of her Dominican Community.

Sister Geraldine will repose at Dominican Chapel/Marywood, 2025 Fulton Street East, with visitation on Thursday, February 16 from 4:00-7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 4:00 pm on Friday, February 17 at Dominican Chapel/Marywood. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in Sister Geraldine Fox’s name may be made to the Grand Rapids Dominican Sisters Health Care Fund.
