BOUCHER– Sister JoAnn, OP (also known as Sister Mary Antonia Boucher) of Grand Rapids (born in Muskegon, MI) died March 16, 2013. She was 76 years old and a Dominican Sister for 60 years.

Sister JoAnn chose food service as her profession and began at St. Mary, Charlevoix. She worked on the kitchen staff at St. Joseph Seminary, Grand Rapids and then provided food services to Sisters at St. Catherine, Ravenna and St. John, Essexville. In the following years she served at Aquinata Hall, the House of Studies, Beaver Island, Aquinas College, and Marywood. Sister JoAnn also worked in the public sector as Food Service Supervisor for The Salvation Army Booth Family Services in Grand Rapids and later as dietary supervisor at Greenview Manor and St. Ann’s Home. She served for 13 years in Lake County with the Meals Program; and at St. Ann Parish in Baldwin as Pastoral Outreach Associate and Pastoral Associate.

Sr. JoAnn received a certificate in Religious Education and was certified in Food Service Management by Fontbonne College, St Louis, MO. She was a certified member of the Hospital, Institution, and Educational Food Service Society and was elected a member at large of that society.

Sr. JoAnn is survived by her sister Bernadette Boucher of Muskegon; her sister Jeanette Franzek and her brother Father Edward Boucher both of Baldwin, MI; nieces and nephews, many friends and members of her Dominican community.

Sister JoAnn will repose at Dominican Chapel/Marywood, 2025 East Fulton Street with visitation on Tuesday, March 19 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and a Remembering Service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20 at Dominican Chapel/Marywood. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in Sister JoAnn Boucher’s name may be made to the Grand Rapids Dominican Sisters Health Care Fund.
