Therese (Nelis) Fisher, age 93 “Tess/Tessie” died quietly at home on October 11, 2020 after a short struggle with Lymphoma. Through her illness she was cared for by her loving daughter Maura and surrounded by her three remaining sons, Mark (Betsy), Matt (Sharon), Bob (Betsy); 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Urban A. “Bud”; two sons, Michael & John; and daughter-in-law, Clare. Tess was an avid reader and also enjoyed walking, cooking and yoga. She and her husband traveled extensively around the world and she was known by her family and friends for her beautiful handwork (sewing, smocking, rug hooking, caning, and gardening, just to name a few). Tess was a devout Catholic, and she wanted to be remembered most as a mother to her six children. Her family brought her the greatest joy. Visitation will be held at St. Mary Magdelan Catholic Parish, 1253 52nd SE, Kentwood, MI on Wednesday, October 14, at 10 a.m. in the church entry followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Private interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
