Thomas Edward Proos age 87 of Grand Rapids went to the Lord on February 29 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marceline Proos; his brother Jack Proos and his son Daniel Proos. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in 1942. Tom served in the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Surviving Thomas are his wife of 65 years Helen; his sons Thomas James (Susan), Robert (Michelle) and Patrick; his 15 grandchildren Thomas (Karen), Tammy Kara Jamie (Jason), CJ (Amy), Pamela (Gino), Katie (Mike), Peter (Kim), JoAnne Michael Matthew Rachael Jessica Joshua and Alex; his 15 great-grandchildren Tiffany Antwan Naveh Andrew Elizabeth Rachael Johny Cameron Joe Francie Tyler Janessa Alexis Jacob Jack; his brothers Richard (Helen) and William (Barbra) and many nieces and nephews. Tom was All City Tennis in 1941 and loved the game of golf. His true passion was everything with his grandchildren gardening and music. He was truly the kindest most thoughtful man and a friend to all. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated March 10 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church 2750 Burton SE Msgr. Ernest P. Schneider presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM. Visitation March 9 from 3-7 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd., SE and Saturday one hour prior to the service at church.
