Thomas Michael Tysse (Doc), age 69 of Cascade, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Kathleen Tysse; parents-in-law, Ralph and Dorothy Leonard; and daughter, Megan Elizabeth Tysse. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Michele Leonard, whom he affectionately called “Mike”; children, Kristen (T.J.) Pindar, Todd (Jamie) Tysse, Ryan Michael Tysse, Katherine (Ben) Walma; brothers, John (Wilma) Tysse, Paul (Della) Tysse, James Tysse; sister, Judith Tysse; brother-in-law, James (Lori) Leonard; grandchildren, Stephanie, Joseph, Mariel, Isabella, Francesca, Cohen, Dahlia, Roman, Samuel, Liam, Liliana; and many nieces and nephews. He is remembered as a generous and gracious man who adored his 11 grandchildren. Tom was a graduate of University of Michigan and the University of Detroit Dental School. He was a true dyed–in-the-wool Michigan fan. Doc was involved with numerous associations, clubs and organizations over the years; Western Michigan Dental Association, American Dental Association, Cascade Hills Country Club, former member of Elks Country Club, American Academy of Computerized Dentistry. Dentistry wasn’t only Doc’s job it was his passion. He studied all over the U.S. to continue his knowledge in the field. He practiced in Grandville for 44 years and in 2003 gave his patients what he perceived to be a dream dental office. Doc’s family would like to thank all the staff of Trillium Woods – Faith Hospice, for the wonderful care given to Tom and all of our family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday October 30 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert of Newminster Church, 6477 Ada Drive, Ada. Rev. Leonard Sudlik presiding. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. A celebration of his life visitation will be held Wednesday October 29 4-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids.
