SMITH – Thomas Smith Sr., aged 69 of Lowell a lifelong Democrat passed away unexpectedly on May 28 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Oleta May (Brandenberg) Smith; and baby sister Dianna Lee Smith. Tom grew up between Lowell and Saranac and graduated from Saranac High School. He then served in the United States Army and eventually he worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service. He is survived by his children Thomas (Eriko) Smith William (Cindy) Smith; grandchildren Jason Shaun Colin Jenna Julie; siblings Elizabeth Story Jack (Betty) Smith Nancy Thornton Judy (Doug) Eddy Jay (Zeta) Smith Jim (Rose) Smith Sharon Nead; many cousins nieces and nephews extended family and many dear friends. A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held May 31st at 5:30 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home 305 N. Hudson St. Rev Phil Struckmeyer from Impact a Wesleyan church officiating. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. prior to service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Disease.
