Tom Horning, age 81 of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday October 2, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine Horning and his children, Claire (Mike) Podein, Karen (Dave) Henneghan, Karl Horning and Beth Skinner. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Peter, David and Katie Podein, Patrick and Laura Henneghan and Alex Horning. He is also survived by brother, Dr. David Horning, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tom graduated from the University of Michigan in 1954. He spent the majority of his career at Rapistan Demag Corporation, retiring as vice-president of Conveyor Systems Operations. A funeral service will be held at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kids Food Basket, God’s Kitchen or the Salvation Army.
