Urban A. “Bud” Fisher, age 90, of Grand Rapids, died early on Sunday, December 4, 2016.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years Therese “Tess”; four of his six children: Mark (Betsy) Fisher, Matthew (Sharon) Fisher, Robert (Betsy) Fisher and Maura (Michael) Malik; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Bud was preceded in death by his parents Urban and Mabelle Fisher; siblings: Judy LaFave, Mary Fisher Cronenwett, John Fisher and Lenore Thompson; two sons: Michael and John; and daughter-in- law Claire. Bud was a graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School in 1943.  Prior to finishing college he honorably served in the US Navy during WWII.  He earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Detroit and his MBA degree from Western Michigan University.  Bud’s career with General Motors / Diesel Equipment Division spanned 33 years where he worked in the Quality Department and retired in 1982 as Director of Quality Assurance.  He loved to be outdoors golfing, fishing, and traveling (bicycle touring) around the world.  Bud was a volunteer with AARP establishing workshops for later life re-entry into the work force and was a Blood Bank Volunteer.  He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Breton Rehabilitation and Living Center and Faith Hospice for their compassionate care. Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 pm on Friday, December 9, 2016 with a rosary to be prayed at 8:00 pm at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2750 Burton St. S.E, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 10, 2106. Private interment will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Esperanza, 1911 West Earll Drive, Phoenix, Arizona 85015-6041.
