Virginia Marie Hoag (Simons), age 93 of Grand Rapids Township, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husbands Jack Simons and William Hoag; brother Burt Bartz; and son Michael Simons. She is survived by her daughters Bonnie Simons, Cindy (David) Sebald, Gina Hoag; grandchildren Lisa (Scott) Smith, Dennis Simons, David (Carrie) Simons, Elizabeth (Jason) Reed; 6 great grandchildren; also nieces and nephews. Virginia was a gracious volunteer for several area organizations including Red Cross, Community Concert, and Gilda’s Club. Her strong faith led her to become very active with church clubs and events. She had a great sense of humor and was a joy to be around. Funeral service will be held Saturday10:00 a.m. at Second Congregational Church, 525 Cheshire Dr. N.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Rev. David Alicea officiating. The family will meet with friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Congregational Church.
