STAGE Virginia Ruth Stage (Weaver), aged 94 of St. Louis Missouri formerly of Grand Rapids passed away May 24 2011. She was born September 29 1916 to Arthur and Mary Weaver. On June 9 1939 she was married to William L. Stage in San Diego California. He preceded her in death on November 6 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother Thomas S. Weaver; sister Vivian Riddle; and another brother Jerome Weaver. She is survived by a son William L. (Mary) Stage Jr.; grandchildren William Alexander Stage Margaret Eileen Stage Sophia Ann Stage Olivia Ruth Stage Maia Elizabeth Stage and Thalia Grace Stage all of St. Louis Missouri; brother Roger (Diane) Weaver of Wyoming; several cousins nieces and nephews. Virginia grew up in the Galewood neighborhood of Grand Rapids and attended Lee High School. She was a precinct worker for city elections for 38 years. She volunteered at the former Maple Grove Medical Care Facility St. Marys Hospital Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and in the Crime Analysis Unit of the Grand Rapids Police Department. Virginia was a principal character in her sons 2009 work Fool For Life a comic memoir about an adoptee finding his natural family. Gramma will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.Mrs. Stage was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 1935 Plymouth SE where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Rosary will be recited 6:30 PM. Visitation 4-7 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE and one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys Doran Foundation 200 Jefferson SE Grand Rapids MI 49503 for St. Marys Health Care.
