SHAFFER – Walter Samuel Shaffer aged 91 of Alto passed away peacefully in his sleep March 4 2008. Walter was best known to all as Pa Shaffer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Lois; brother Raymond; and a son-in-law Jim Ellis; Pa is survived by his wife Barbara of 66 years; children Delores Ellis Donna (William) Harrall Wesley Shaffer Richard (Debbie) Shaffer and Larry (Gail) Shaffer; sisters Esther Slater and Elda Bretze; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; also many nieces and nephews; Pa Shaffer served in the Pacific during WWII. He was a farmer worked construction and loved pulling modified tractors with his family. A public visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on at the Roth-Gerst Funeral Home 305 North Hudson Lowell. A private funeral service will be March 7th with Rev. Roger LaWarre officiating. Interment Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens.
