Wayne David Peterson, age 85 of Lowell, formerly from Ada and Lapeer, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Born April 6, 1936, in Northport, he grew up in Traverse City. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; parents; and brother, Lee Peterson. He is survived by his sons, David (Susan) Peterson, Bruce (Lara Merkhofer Lambrecht) Peterson; grandchildren, Ben (Emma), Liam, Hannah; step-granddaughters Vanessa and Kira; brother, Doug (Toni) Peterson; sister, Marge (Bob) Endriss; and several nieces and nephews. Sharon and Wayne met at Central Michigan University; and they wed August 23, 1962, in Warren. Wayne taught history for many years at Lapeer West High School. After retiring, Sharon and Wayne moved to Ada to be closer to their children and grandchildren and enjoyed many years of traveling. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 1 PM Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, Michigan, 49331. The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel.  Rev. Chaplin Madelyn Thompson of Kindred Hospice officiating. Immediately following services, a luncheon will be held at Lowell United Methodist Church, 621 E. Main St., Lowell, Michigan, 49331, for a time of food and fellowship. Interment Findlay Cemetery, Ada Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 625 Kenmoor Ave SE Ste 115 Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

    I am sorry to hear of your dad’s passing.

    Your dad and my dad (Paul Bush) remained friends throughout the years. Wayne’s friendship
    meant a lot to him. Our family will always remember Wayne as an affable and happy go lucky guy.
