Wendell John Heemstra, of Lowell, walked into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. He is ‘together forever’ with his wife, Jane, who preceded him in death. Wendell is survived by his children: Pam (Matthew) Kinnucan, Randy (Molly) Heemstra, Sandie (Jeff) Ross and grandchildren: Meghan and Hannah Ross, Lauren and Paul Heemstra and Benjamin Kinnucan. He is also survived by his sister Kay Rozema, sister-in-law, Margaret Heemstra, and brother and sister-in-law, Lyle (Pete) and Sheryll Wright. Wendell served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later became the owner of American Sign Company. Wendell was a charter member of Lowell Calvary Christian Reformed Church where he served faithfully in many capacities. He was an avid fisherman and fast-pitch softball fan. Wendell was a member of the Wolverine Beagle Club where he enjoyed spending time training and running beagles. One of his greatest life accomplishments was having traveled to Alaska twice with his wife, Jane. A funeral service will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Lowell Calvary Christian Reformed Church, 1125 W. Main St. Visitation Friday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell MI and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Interment Bailey Cemetery.
