William “Bill” Joseph Raap, age 80 of Ada, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Rosemary Raap; daughter, Christina Raap; great-granddaughter, Harley; brothers, Don, George, James, and John II Raap; and sister, Rosemary Raap. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Raap; children, Michelle Jones, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Raap, Julie (Emil Pieri) Brummett, Amanda Raap; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Bernard (Ruth) Raap; twin sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Schoenborn; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Jeff) DeBruler, Pam (Fuzz) Castro; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, family was the most important thing to him. He was always a jokester making everyone laugh until the very end. Bill retired from Penske/Bosch after 20 years. He was a member of the Local 70 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Bills passions were roses and gardening. He loved being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and tinkering in the yard. Bill also enjoyed watching Fox News and was an avid reader. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 with a Rosary service at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, 6477 Ada Dr SE, Ada, MI 49301 with visitation one-hour prior. Fr. Tony Russo, presiding. Interment Findlay Cemetery. It brought Bill immense joy for his daughter Amanda to be able to go to camp each year. Memorial contributions may be made to Carolyn Raap to help fund camp for Amanda for years to come.
