Yvonne Allen

On November 25, 2021, Yvonne Allen of Ada, Michigan, ascended to her Heavenly home. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community.

Yvonne was born on January 19, 1927, in Hartford, Michigan, to William and Marie Olds, and had a brother, Rodney Olds. While in her teens, her father owned the Government Lake Lodge in Baldwin, Michigan, where she met and later married Bert Ebmeyer, Jr. They relocated to Grand Rapids, and then to Kentwood, Michigan.

After Bert’s death at a young 61, Yvonne moved to California and resided in Laguna Hills for 18 years, where she met her second husband, Joe Allen. They traveled the world together. After his demise, she returned to the Grand Rapids area to be close to her children, her many descendants and relatives, and lifelong friends.

Yvonne worked throughout her life, first as a regional manager of Beauty Counselor cosmetics, then for Lancôme, and afterwards in real estate as an office manager of several apartment properties.

Yvonne was an accomplished pianist and attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She was passionate about the arts, a member of the West Michigan Jazz Society, and greatly enjoyed dancing the night away at Noto’s.

Yvonne is survived by her three children – Rob Ebmeyer (Kathy), Reed Ebmeyer (Cathy), and Renee Ebmeyer Schwartz (Philip), four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, and nephews, and her very dear companion and dance partner, William Barnett.

The funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., and all are invited to visit with the family prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
