Anna Mae O’Donnoghue, of Grand Rapids, MI, journeyed to heaven on December 16, 2021, at the age of 89.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, George R. O’Donnoghue; her father, Erich D. Planer; and mother, Jane Planer (nee Gilbane); five brothers; and four sisters. Anna was born on January 11, 1932, in Washington, D.C., the ninth of ten children. She was a loving and devoted mother of David (Sharon) O’Donnoghue of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Susan (John) Anderson of Bowie, Maryland, and Margaret (Jay) Zook of Silver Spring, Maryland. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Michael (Lyndsey) Zook, Julie (Aaron) Guerrero, Kelly (Ethan) Engel, Joe Zook, Eric Anderson, and Kristin (Ali) Amir; plus, four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in Washington, D.C. in 1950 and from the Academy’s post-graduate Business School in 1951. Early in her career she worked at the U.S. Department of Justice as a legal secretary. Later in life she worked at the Computer Sciences Corporation as a Technical Publications Editor supporting multiple NASA Space Shuttle launches. She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States and to Ireland, shopping at antique stores, and engaging in community service with the Red Hat Society and the Senior Center of Thurmont, Maryland. Following her husband’s passing she continued to travel to several western U.S. states and to Italy.

Friends and family may visit from 10am – 11am on Wednesday, December 22 at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Ave, Hyattsville MD.  Services will be held at 11am Wednesday, December 22 at Gasch’s.  Interment will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland.
