Taber, Bette J, age 86, passed away suddenly Monday, February 1, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Taber in 2014. Surviving is her daughter, Amy (Kevin) Turner, grandchildren Andrew and Caroline Turner, sister-in-law, Katy Quirk, nieces, nephews and cousins along with many good friends.
Born May 6, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bette graduated from South High School and worked until the birth of their daughter, Amy. She returned to work at Dodgson Management in the early 80’s and retired in 1995. She kept busy in retirement with the South High Alumni Scholarship Program and spending time with her two grandchildren that were a light in her life. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Bette along with her spouse Jim were founding members of South High Alumni Scholarship Fund. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the South High Alumni Scholarship at Grand Rapids Community College Foundation, 143 Bostwick Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
