Carleen D. Spinetto, age 23 of Grand Rapids passed away unexpectedly Monday November 4, 2013 after a lifelong brave battle with myotonic dystrophy and is now with her mother Diane. Carly is survived by her father Bob, sister Brie, step mother Clara, grandmother Florence Nekervis and aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to list. Carly had a love for life and never let the disease that challenged her since birth ever deter her from enjoying the music, books and videos she craved or from providing the ‘biggest, bestest hugs’ that she was world renowned for giving. Without the help and guiding hands of all the teachers, nurses, aides, doctors, therapists, caregivers, sitters, fellow students, bus drivers, principals, administrators, friends, family and case workers that supported Carly over the years she never would have had the opportunity to accomplish all the things she did and enjoy the life she had. Thank you to everyone involved as Carly truly did have a remarkable life. Carly’s family will meet friends Thursday 3-6:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Road, Grand Rapids.
