Catherine (Cathy) Marie MacDonald passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Wednesday, October 9th. She is survived by her husband John of 51 years, her daughters; Katie Cavanagh (Michael),Patty Godfrey (Patrick), Annmarie MacDonald, Molly Jones (Jeremy), Maureen Rousseve (Dan), her son Scottie MacDonald. She adored her grandchildren; Brennan (Lauren), Shea, Keegan, McKenna, Lou-Lou, Lily, and Lottie, her step-grandchildren; Serena, Ashley, Andrew and David. She was delighted to have her great grandchild Rowan complete the family. Cathy’s sisters, Ann O’Malley (Patrick) and Patty Paddock(Harry) meant the world to her.She graduated from Aquinas College and was a beloved teacher of many students at St. Stephen, Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Thomas the Apostle, and St. Patrick Parnell. Cathy was a dedicated gardener, a creative soul and a lover of nature. It has been said her hugs were worth a million bucks. Her adoration for Jesus was evident in the way she lived her life. She had a deep love and devotion to the Lord, her family, friends and students. She will be missed and always remembered for her unconditional love and bright smile. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, October 12 at 10AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1935 Plymouth Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. Family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, October 11 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, with a Rosary at 7:30 PM, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids.

She was a Godsend to our daughter Molly in 3rd grade. A great colleague and friend. Heaven has been made a happier place by our loss here on earth. Prayers to her family.
