HOLLERN With great sorrow the family of Deacon Dale F. Hollern age 77 announce his passing on November 3 2011 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Yet it is with great joy that we celebrate his new birth into Eternal Life with our Heavenly Father. Deacon Dale continued his ministry of service to others up until the end with humility and compassion. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Elizabeth; his brothers Martin Charles and Patrick and his sisters Mae Carol and Rose Marie. Deacon Dale is survived by his loving and caring wife of 53 years and biggest fan Isabel M. Hollern (Ott). His children grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Linda Hollern (Patrick Ann Marie and Michael Urso), Michael and Fran Hollern (Kara and Paul Potter great-grandchildren Brody Cohen and Gage Kyle Hollern Caitlin Hollern and fianc Carl Winterbottom Pat and Shelly Hollern (Dan Rick Joe Rachel and fianc Mark Huyge Amanda Colleen and Shannon Hollern), Ted and Maribeth Hollern (Teddy McKenzie Abbie Nate and Nick), Amy Hollern (Kailee and Kyler Giem) and Tim and Alicia Hollern (Emma T.J., and Ally). Deacon Dale was a passionate MSU Spartan family man educator and faithful humble servant. The Hollern family would like to thank Dr. Fran Hart for his expertise friendship and support during Deacon Dales illness Dr. Wilkerson and the Saint Marys radiology team and Faith Hospice staff for their caring and ongoing support during Dales illness. A special thanks to the St. Stephen parish and school community for their ongoing love and support. The family of Deacon Dale will meet with visitors on November 7 2011 at St. Stephen Church 750 Gladstone SE from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A celebration of his life will take place on November 8 2011 at at the Cathedral of St. Andrew 265 Sheldon Ave., SE. Memorial contributions may be made to the Deacon Dale Hollern Scholarship Fund c/o Foundation for Catholic Secondary Schools 319 Sheldon Blvd., SE Grand Rapids MI 49503I have fought the good fight I have finished the race I have kept the faith.
