David Alan VanKoevering, age 56, died peacefully following a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the University of Vermont Medical Center. David was preceded in death by his parents, Arlan and Louann VanKoevering. Surviving are his beloved wife Regina VanKoevering; son Brian Garvey, Jr. (Ana) of Richmond, VT; sister Kristine Lang (Greg) of Grand Rapids, MI; brother Mike VanKoevering (Sue) of South Burlington VT; nieces and nephews, Ben, Kari, Mark, Ja, Annierae and Melat; and also his treasured cat Ti-Ti of 14 years. David graduated from Rockford High School in 1979 and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in music from Grand Valley State University. David was very kind, loving and easy-going. He had a unique sense of humor and a deep laugh that was extremely contagious. At a young age David discovered he had a talent for music and could play the piano just by hearing the sound. He played in many bands in his younger days and still loved to play the keyboard at home as a hobby. He had a passion for cooking and loved sharing that passion with family and friends. David had a successful career in the trucking industry for over 38 years. He last worked at New England Motor Freight in Williston, VT. He enjoyed traveling to Virginia to visit with family and attend NASCAR. He also loved traveling to Michigan and showing Regina where he grew up and introducing her to his life-long friends. His overall greatest achievement in life was the love he shared with his wife Regina. Their commitment and love for each other was inspiring. Visitation for David will take place Friday, May 11 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. The Funeral Service will take place Saturday, May 12 at 10 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2700 Fulton St, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. Pastor Robert Linstrom officiating.
