Doris Mae Jager, aged 89 of Ada, passed away into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 5, 2014 surrounded by her family. Doris was a true servant of her Lord, always helping others and giving her love unconditionally. We thank God every day for the great example she set for her daughters to be loving and good mothers. Doris was an avid card player and always cheered on her Tigers. We give special thanks to her granddaughter Nell and Amber Oncza for the compassionate care given to allow our mother to spend her final days at home. The family is also very thankful to God’s special angel, Cindy Grimaldi, who loved and supported her for the last four years. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joe; sister Marian Haner and sons-in-law John Stream and Wally Bernhardt. She is survived by her children LaRae Stream, Marcia Bernhardt, Jeanie (Ronald) DeLeeuw and Lanelle ‘Nell’ Jager, whom she adopted at the age of 12; grandchildren Bradley (Colleen) Stream, Michael (Lori) Stream, Jodi (Joe) Sidor, Ryan Overzet, Chad and Jason Barnhart, Dorrie (Dan) Sarhad and Lindsy Veenstra; great-grandchildren Rebeka, Adam, Lanie and Ethan Stream, Michael and John Sidor, Reece Overzet, Cody and Tanner Barnhart, Maya Rae Sarhad and Donovan Veenstra; devoted nephews LeRoy (Delores) Smith and Wayne (Rita) Brown; granddaughter of the heart Michelle Nastally and her daughter Angela (Cody) Hadley. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014, 11:00 a.m at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5125 Cascade Rd. SE. Rev. Robert Appold officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Hospice, 2161 Leonard St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 or St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
