HART Edward Remington Hart Jr., aged 82 of Grand Rapids passed away December 29 2010. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Kathleen; children Edward Hart III Mary (Al) Gerber Ann (Wes) Lamb all of Grand Rapids John (Michele) Hart of Evanston IL; grandchildren Emily Kristopher and Lilah Hart; great-grandchildren Demetrius and Leonardo; brother Joseph (Rosalie) Hart; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was born in New York City on July 17 1928. He moved to Grand Rapids and attended St. Thomas the Apostle grammar school and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1947. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. and attended the University of Maryland. Ed was active in St. Thomas Scout Troop #204 and was a proud (and loud) supporter of Catholic Central sports. He loved Notre Dame the outdoors camping fishing prospecting for gold out west and shooting the breeze with anyone and everyone. He was a consummate salesman working for many years at the Duo-Fast Corporation. As an entrepreneur Ed owned a variety of businesses and for the last twelve years of his life was the proprietor of Fat Mans Fish Fry. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. To celebrate his life visitation will be held January 2 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.at OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst. Rosary will be recited evening at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. S.E., Rev. James A. Chelich presiding. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gildas Club of Grand Rapids St. Johns Home or St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
