HARMON Elizabeth J. (Betty) Harmon aged 92 of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully on the morning of December 30 2010 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard her son Bernard Joseph and her brothers Bob Jim and Pat Walsh. She is survived by her children Dick (Lila) of Rockford Mary (Fritz) Hormuth of Grand Rapids Susie of Grand Rapids Don (Nancy) of Ada Thomas J. (Teri) of Kentwood Sharon (Gary Bert) Balcer of Grand Rapids; sister Sally (Tom) Longo of Jenison; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was born Elizabeth Walsh on March 25 1918. Betty graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1935 and was a long time supporter of Catholic education. She married Bernard on June 24 1939. Betty was a retiree of the Social Security Administration. She was a humble accepting generous woman blessed with a great Irish wit and very deep faith. She was a loving wife mother grandmother great-grandmother sister aunt and friend. She loved life family and Notre Dame football. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered January 3 at at St. Paul the Apostle Church 2750 Burton SE concelebrated by Msgr. Ernest Schneider Rev. Bernie Carlin CSsR and Rev. Denis Ryan CSsR. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may meet the family at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE on from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and at St. Paul the Apostle Church at 10:00 AM Monday. Rosary will be recited at 8:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Central St. Paul Education Foundation or Gods Kitchen.
