ELSON (AL) BROUWER, age 90 of Ada, went to be with the Lord and spend Christmas in Heaven.  He died Thursday, December 23, 2021.

Elson was born in 1931 in Friesland, The Netherlands.  As a boy, he lived through WWII, and immigrated to America after the war.  In the 1950’s he served in the US Army.  In 1955 he married Amy and they had 61 wonderful years together on this earth.  They raised 3 sons and taught them “diligently to love and fear the Lord” (Deuteronomy 6).

Elson is now re-united with his wife Amy who preceded him in death in 2016; and their son Edward, who died in 2011.  He is survived by sons: Ronald (Patti); James (Bonnie); daughter-in-law Marilyn; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.  Also by a brother: Andrew (Jackie); and extended family, both here and in The Netherlands.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 28, 11:00 a.m. at the Ada Christian Reformed Church, 7152 Bradfield St SE, Ada, MI 49301, where Al was a member since the 1960’s.  Rev. Rick Kiekintvelt will officiate.  Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m.  There will be a light luncheon at noon.  Burial will be in Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery, in the Veterans section.

A verse to live by, as Al did:

“Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and you will not be dependent on anybody.”  I Thessalonians 4: 11-12.
