DILLON – Hugh A. Dillon age 96 of Grand Rapids passed awayon January 9 2010. He is survived by his wife of 63years Catherine L. Dillon; his four sons Terry (Debbie), Brian (Patty), Tim (Ruth), Dan (Debbie); his eight grandchildren Brandon Courtney Evan Patrick Brian Seamus Ryan Conor and Tyler and his three great-grandchildren Cameron Sean and Paul. Hugh was born in Enterprise Ontario Canada on December 30 1913. He was one of seven children.He was preceded in death by his brothers John and Gerard Dillon and his sisters Kay Enright and Rita Craigen. He is also survived by his brother Frank Dillon and sister Kay Hoey. Hugh and his six brothers and sisters grew up on a farm in southern Ontario. His childhood passion was playing hockey which passion he passed on to his sons and grandchildren. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in World War II. After the war he emigrated to the United States and in 1947 he married Catherine Miron. Hugh was an executive at Kelvinator who moved to Grand Rapids in 1968 with his family. After his retirement from Kelvinator he enjoyed playing tennis taking up golf and enjoying his grandchildren. He also became a volunteer for the American Cancer Association driving cancer patients to their treatments. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at with Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Killgoar Foundation for IHM School 1935 Plymouth SE Grand Rapids MI 49506-4494.
