Jack Donald Smith – November 10, 1921 to July 14, 2019. Jack Donald Smith, age 97 of East Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Sunrise of Cascade. The family would like to give special thanks to Deb, Mona and the staff at Sunrise and Hospice of West Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; son Jack; brothers, Eugene, Forrest and Harry Smith; and sister “Babe” Bramwell. He is survived by his son Craig (Jeanne); daughter Halle; grandchildren Scott (Yeimy), Andrew; great grandchildren Ana Lucia, and Alden Smith. Jack was a World War II veteran and served as an aviator in the US Navy and Army. He attended John Carrol University and enjoyed a successful sales career with 3M, retiring after 31 years of service. He was well respected as an accomplished golfer at the Elks Highland Country Club. Jack was able to shoot his age from 68 to 87 and worked as a ranger at Thousand Oaks until age 90. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 1935 Plymouth Ave. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. The family will meet friends and relatives one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
