Dinan in 2007; daughter, Mary Dinan; granddaughter, Anne Dinan and grandson, Zachary Hoffer. He is survived by his children, Gay Dinan Lyonnais of Lowell, James Dinan (special friend Vicki Smith) of Kentwood and Julie (David) Hoffer of Grand Rapids; brothers, Richard Dinan of Florida, William (Mary) Dinan of Grosse Point, Michael (Ann) Dinan of Rochester, MI, Patrick (Barbara) Dinan of Lake Geneva, WI; grandchildren, Todd, Elizabeth, Bridgette and Megan Lyonnais, James Dinan, Keleigh and Collin Hoffer; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Detroit, the first of five boys. He served as Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later attended Michigan State University. Jim was devoted to his Catholic faith, his beloved family and friends. He was always the first one to lend a hand to people he knew and embrace those he’d just met. His volunteer activities were numerous and his love for his family abundant. He taught us many lessons in faith, courage, commitment, humor and honor. Jesus opened up His loving arms and called him home. Our family patriarch is now in heaven, but his life lessons and legacy will live on through his family. Our family is deeply indebted to the outstanding caregivers at Clark Retirement at Keller Lake and the compassionate advocating care team of Great Lakes Caring Hospice. Thank you for all you did for our father! Memorial services will be Friday, July 27 at Noon at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Msgr. Ernest P. Schneider and Rev. Tim Tuthill, officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment Lake Forest Cemetery, Grand Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Home for Veterans , Great Lakes Caring Hospice or Right to Life of Michigan.
