James R. Biesbrock Sr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2022, surrounded by his family at home. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery; sister Janet and brother, William. James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; children, James Biesbrock Jr., Jodi (Robert) Bajko, Jennifer (Ryan) Wells; sisters, Linda Haff, Mary (John) Walma, Judy (John) Gritter; ten grandchildren, Jamie, Joseph, Jacob, Jonathan, Judith, Jenevieve, Louis, Tommy, Mikey, Norah; and many nieces & nephews. James was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam era and decorated with the Sharpshooter Medal. James was a brilliant man who retired from General Motors as a Quality Control Engineer after 35+ years. James enjoyed vacationing with his family and spending time with his grandkids. He was happiest when taking his grandkids on a tractor and Kubota ride through his back woods wearing his, “Magic Coat,” which carried an abundance of candy and treats for the kids. James was known for always opening his heart and home, lending a hand or tool, and giving rational advice to his friends and neighbors. Some of his hobbies were farming, fishing, bowling, analyzing the stock market, traveling to Vegas to hit the Blackjack tables and of course cracking jokes. James was a wonderful husband, father, and friend who positively impacted the lives of many and whose memory will be forever cherished. Visitation will take place from 12-2 PM on Monday, January 31, 2022, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546 with funeral services following at 2 PM. Rev. Darrell Dalman officiating. Honors will be performed under the auspices of Kent County Veteran Honor Guard. Interment Ada Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation an organization that helps pay off mortgages for fallen soldiers and first responders.
