POE – Kathryn F. (Kit) Poe aged 95 of Grand Rapid entered her Heavenly Home on June 14 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Wesley R. Poe; brother George F. King and sister Eleanor Jadvinskas. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Barbara A and Donald Jay Hondorp; grandson Rick D. Hondorp of Tempe Arizona; granddaughter Janice J. (Larry) Zagata and great-granddaughter Alison J. and Kathryn E. Zagata of Manzanita Oregon. She is also survived by her second family Emilie Farage and children; several nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Kit was a long time member of St. Thomas Church and active in the St. Thomas Theatercrafters and the 50 Plus Club. During World War II she volunteered at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon as a nurses aide after which she returned to Grand Rapids and worked as a sewer for McInerny Spring & Wire until her retirement many years later. Her great loves were her family friends nature music and pets especially dogs. Several winter months each year were spent on the beaches of Indian Shores Florida. She loved to join the sing-a-longs at Clark Retirement Community her residence for the past eight years and if you were a lucky one on your birthday you had a call from Grandma Kit strumming her ukelale and singing Happy Birthday. Her family would like to thank the whole staff of Clark Home for the loving care she received there and to Faith Hospice for tender care the last few months of her life. Well all miss her smiling face.Mass of Christian Burial will be offered July 29 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. SE Rev. James A. Chelich presiding. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park. Vigil service 7:30 PM. Visitation July 28 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM.
